After our engagement, I came to know that my fiance is a great cook. Especially using different items to prepare different stuff. I have never dreamt of a chutney with chow chow(chayote) and trust me, its one yummy dish to go along with dosas.

Ginger - 1 inch
Garlic - 1 clove
Green Chili - 2
Red Chili - 1
Coriander Seeds - 2 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1tsp
Urad Dal - 1 tsp
Gram Dal - 1 tsp
Asafoetida - a pinch
Curry Leaves - a little
Corainder Leaves - a little
Grated Coconut - 2 tsp (optional)
Salt to taste
Oil for cooking
Method
Heat oil, add mustard seeds and once it splutters; add curry leaves, cumin seeds, urad dal, gram dal, coriander seeds, chillies, garlic, ginger, onion and saute.
Add tamarind, tomatoes and chopped chayote and saute till cooked well.
Add coconut and coriander leaves and switch off heat.
Once cool, grind into a fine paste in a mixer and serve with hot dosas.
Im sending this to Siri's Back to Basics: Basic Chutneys which was initiated by Jaya@Original B2B post.

Recently we tasted the chutney at a restaurant at Perambalur, near Trichy. When asked about the recipe the waiter told that the master has left the kitchen. Now I know the recipe. Thanks a lot.
