Mango Thokku

Whenever its mango season, both my mom and MIL prepare Mango thokku without fail. Its a must in the family. This weekend while shopping we saw a mango and thought why not I try it out. Called my MIL over skype, got the recipe and dished it out!!

Ingredients
Mango - 1
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Jaggery - 1 tbsp
Fenugreek Seeds - 1 tsp
Asafoetida - 1 tsp
Red Chili Powder - 2 tbsp
Gingelly Oil for cooking

Method
Dry roast and powder fenugreek seeds and asafoetida. Set it aside
Heat generous amount of gingelly oil, add mustard seeds and once it splutters; add grated mangoes till its mushy and like a halwa.
Add chili powder, salt and cook till the oil leaves the dish.
Add grated jaggery and turn off the heat. Top it with fenugreek seed powder and mix well.
Serve with curd rice. Infact though its a pickle we have it with sambar rice, rotis, idlis and dosas!!

Im sending this to The Pumpkin Farm's Mango Mania and Kalyani's Pickles and Preserves Fest

Bon Appetit!!
