Vegetable Upma Kozhukattai

Upma Kozhukattai or Pidi Kozhukattai, its a regular dinner at many TamBram home; rather palaharam. So why make the same old stuff?? I tried it with some vegetables and wow, it totally tastes different.

Ingredients
Raw Rice - 1/2 cup
Toor Dal - 2 tbsp
Pepper - 4 corns
Red Chili - 2
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Urad Dal - 1 tsp
Gram Dal - 1 tsp
Green Chilli - 1
Curry Leaves - a little
Asafoetida - a pinch
Vegetables - a handful
Salt to taste
Coconut Oil for cooking

Method
Boil the vegetables of your choice and set it aside.
Grind the first four ingredients like a fine semolina.
Heat oil, add mustard seeds and once it splutters; add urad dal, gram dal, green chilli, curry leaves and asafoetida.
Add a cup of water, water should be in 2:1 ratio with rice. Allow to boil and add salt, ground rice.
Mix well and keep stirring till all the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked well. Let it rest for sometime.
After the heat is reduced, take the upma and shape like oval kebabs and steam them on idli plates.
Serve with any chutney of your choice.

Im sending this recipe to Denny's and Krithi's Kitchen Serve It Steamed.

Bon Appetit!!
