Ellu Urundai

Ellu Urundai is an awesome snack sweet. It literally translates to Sesame seed balls. Everybody in my family loves it. But we rarely prepare it. I was literally not having any work today evening and decided to make this.
Sesame Seeds - 50 gms
Jaggery - 3 tbsp (grated)

Soak the sesame seeds for 10 minutes and remove all water.
Dry roast it till all water content is gone and the sesame seeds begin to crackle.
In a kadai, heat a little amount of water and add the jaggery to it. The amount of water should be lesser than that of the jaggery. Keep stirring till you get a thread like consistency. If you pour the jaggery from a spoon it should fall like a thick thread. Switch off the heat.
Add the jaggery syrup in small amounts onto the roasted sesame seeds and form as small balls. You should do this immediately before the jaggery thickens. If its too hot, try adding some rice flour and making the urundai.

Im sending this as an entry to Torview's Food Palette Series Black

Bon Appetit!!
