Spicy Tofu Fries

I always wanted to try tofu, but was feeling shy to try. Since I keep seeing tofu on the shelves, when we go grocery shopping, I decided to test it. Its such a delicate thing, and takes in flavors so quickly......I was amazed....and decided Im going to try and post many more tofu delicacies....

Ingredients
Extra Firm Tofu - 200 gms
Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
Corn Flour - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Oil - 1 tbsp

Method
Squeeze out any water in the tofu, by covering it with a muslin cloth and pressing it slowly.
Cut into pieces of desired shape.
Tofu doesnt have a taste of its own. Marinate with a mix of chilli powder, pepper powder and salt. Leave it aside for 15 minutes.
Before frying blot dry tofu with a paper towel. Lesser the moisture, crispier the tofu. Dont do this ahead of time, coz it sweats continuously.
Heat a pan, pour oil evenly on all sides, simmer and place the tofu pieces one by one. Allow for the bottom to  be golden brown, flip and shallow fry.
Serve hot with any curry or sauce.

Im sending this to Prabha's Show me your HITS, a brainchild of Sangeetha

Bon Appetit!!
