Thattai

Thattai is one snack my father awaits during Krishna Jayanthi. My aunt makes yummy thattai's and send them especially for him. Its a fairly simple process.
Ingredients
Rice Flour - 3 cups
Urad Dal Flour - 1/4 cup
Red Chili Powder - 3 tbsp
Asafoetida - 1 tsp
Butter - 1 tbsp
Curry Leaves - a little (finely chopped)
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying

Method
Prepare rice flour and urad dal flour as mentioned in my earlier post.
Mix rice flour, urad dal flour, red chili powder, asafoetida, butter, curry leaves and salt together.
Add little amounts of water and knead into a very soft and smooth dough.
Grease a plastic cover with coconut oil, make small balls of the dough. Use a flat base vessel (we use a coffee   davarah) and make it flat and thin. Use bamboo sticks or skewers to pierce small holes in the thattai.
Deep fry on medium heat and your awesome thattai's are ready.
