Shallot Masala Paratha

This week's Blog Hop Wednesday, Im paired with Sangeetha of Spicy Treats. There were a lot of dishes on the probable list and on random I chose Onion Masala Paratha(May be I wanted to try a different bread variety). Last week we had prepared some Onion Stuffed Kulchas, but this was totally different and the spices literally took the paratha to a new high. Its less messy as well, no stuffing necessary!!

Ingredients
Shallots - 10
Red Chilli - 4
Coriander Seeds - 1 tsp
Pepper Corns - 5
Cumin - 1 tsp
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Garam Masala - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - a little
Oil - 1 tbsp
Wheat Flour - 2 cups
Gingelly Oil for kneading dough
Salt to taste
Butter for cooking

Method
Heat oil, add red chillies, coriander seeds, cumin,  asafoetida, curry leaves, onions, garam masala and saute. Allow to cool and gringd into a fine paste.
Knead wheat flour, paste, salt, gingelly oil with little amounts of water into a smooth dough. Let it rest for sometime.
Roll into a flat chapathi, spread some butter/ghee and fold into a semi circle and once more into a quadrant. Roll again into a thicker chapathi.
Heat a tawa, toast like a usual paratha, applying butter on the sides after its cooked.
Serve hot with pickle and curd or any side dish of your choice.

Im sending this to Kavi's Healthy Cooking Challenge - Lunch

Bon Appetit!!
